FAQ

How to clean fabric lounge chairs?

There are different ways to clean fabric lounge chairs, one of them being using a steam cleaner. However, if you don’t have a professional steam cleaner, you can still get that deep cleanse with regular products that can be found anywhere.

Let’s go over the steps to follow to get a perfectly clean lounge chair:

  • First of all, vacuum your lounge chair to get rid of all the dirt that is on the surface or might be trapped in the layers of fabric.
  • After vacuuming, it is better to first of all target specific areas with stains on your lounge chair and remove them before giving your piece of furniture a deep wash. For most of the stains, you can make a paste with baking soda and water or mix white vinegar and water. For more stubborn spots, you might need to use special products and formulas that gently remove these stains.
  • For this step, you must use a mix of high-quality detergent with water, and a microfibre cloth soaked in that mix and completely wrung. Clean all the upholstered areas of your lounge chair.
  • After cleaning your lounge chair with detergent, rinse it with a damp towel. Wipe the cleaning solution off until there isn’t any soap residue on the upholstery's surface.
  • After the wash, dry your lounge chairs by either putting them outside in a shady area to air dry them or by using dry wipes on them to absorb as much moisture as possible and then putting them under the ceiling fan until completely dry. Don’t skip this step, as it is important to ensure the fabric on your lounge chair is dry. It’s best not to blow-dry the chairs or put them under direct sunlight as both methods can damage the fabric.

Where to buy lounge chairs?

Here at The Modern, we offer a range of high-quality wooden lounge chairs upholstered with fabric, leather and Letha-tek. Discover our collection of lounge chairs and elevate your interior with carefully selected styling.

How to clean leather lounge chairs?

Use a mix of white vinegar and water (1:5) or dish soap and water to clean leather lounge chairs. Soak a towel in the mix, and use it to dampen your chair. Use the solution to clean your lounge chair, paying special attention to the parts that your hands and legs touch the most. After this step, remove the solution with a wet towel and then use some tissues or dry wipes to dry the lounge chairs. Voilà, your lounge chairs are clean and look brand new!

What is a lounge chair?

Although the designs and styles of lounge chairs have broadened over time, at its core, a lounge chair is a reclined chair. Usually, they are designed without armrests and with an ottoman for legs to offer the ultimate comfort and relaxation. Their versatility makes them an ideal addition to almost any room in your house.

What should I look for in a lounge chair?

Your lounge chair should be a place of utmost comfort for you, so there are several things to look for when buying one:

  • Size. Decide how much space you can allocate for your lounge chair and choose the size of the chair accordingly.
  • Recline. Choose a comfortable lounge chair that will be as reclined as you need to provide your body with great support and comfort.
  • Material. Consider what kind of material will provide you with the most comfort while blending with the rest of your interior space, and choose the lounge chair with an ideal material.
  • Look for little quality indicators like upholstery stitching and the frame’s manufacture.

What is the difference between an armchair and a lounge chair?

Armchairs usually provide some support for elbows or arms, while lounge chairs do not necessarily have armrests. Lounge chairs often come with an ottoman for leg support and are reclined to provide additional comfort and relaxation for the body, while armchairs have straight backs.

How long should a lounge chair be?

Your lounge chair needs to be of the right length and width for you while fitting the space you can allocate.

When was the lounge chair invented?

The lounge chair was invented in 1956. The first lounge chair to be produced was the Eames Lounge Chair which took the comfort of the chairs of that time to another level by making them reclined and offering an ottoman for leg support. Since then, lounge chairs have been popular worldwide and have become a staple furniture piece for living rooms, home offices and other spaces.

Add a point of utmost comfort and cosiness to your space with our selection of premium quality lounge chairs.

What is the difference between a recliner and a lounge chair?

The most basic difference between a recliner and a lounge chair is that lounge chairs are static, and the angle at which they are reclined cannot be changed.

What is the most comfortable lounge chair?

We cannot assess which lounge chair would be the most comfortable for you as it depends on your preferences. The best way to choose the most comfortable lounge chair for you is to visit one of our physical stores in person, try out different lounge chairs, and discover the one that will tick all the boxes for you.
